Impact begins here.

The official story of Scarritt Foundation launched in 2025, but the foundation of our story has been building for the last 25 years. We invite you to watch the short film below to learn more about where we come from, what we’re doing now, and our big plans for the future!

Our Founder

The Scarritt Foundation was born from founder Adrienne Williams’ lifelong love for animals and her childhood dream of helping them. Seeing grassroots rescues struggle for resources and advocacy, she set out to change that.

Inspired by her three greats-grandfather Nathan Scarritt’s legacy of service, Adrienne created the Scarritt Foundation to support those on the front lines of animal rescue and rehabilitation. At its heart, the Foundation champions compassion, advocacy, and the belief that every life has value.

Scarritt Group reflects these values, integrating pet-friendly policies and supporting animal welfare initiatives. Employees are encouraged to foster, adopt, and engage in acts of kindness, with resources to help.

Through community-building and direct support for grassroots organizations, the Scarritt Foundation is strengthening the bond between people and their pets—one act of kindness at a time.

Founding Board of Directors

  • Julie Ann Funk, DVM, MS, PhD

    Dean, Veterinary Medicine
Professor, College of Veterinary Medicine, The University of Arizona

As someone that wanted to be a veterinarian as long as I can remember, animals have been at the center of my life, personally and professionally.  What drives me as a veterinarian and educator is empowering our future veterinary leaders to serve society by improving the health and well-being of animals.

I joined the Scarritt Foundation Board because the mission is closely aligned with my strong advocacy for the value of the human animal bond.  Supporting animals in need not only benefits the animals themselves, but also positively impacts the well-being of that pet’s family.  Serving animals serves people.

  • Fernando Barraza, CPA, MAcc

    Principal, International Practice Leader, BeachFleischman

It is an honor to serve as Treasurer on the Board of Scarritt Foundation, an organization devoted to the welfare of animals and the communities that love them. I’m proud to support a mission that not only rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes animals, but also partners with efforts to help unhoused individuals care for their beloved pets—recognizing the vital emotional connection between them.

In this role, I am committed to financial stewardship that ensures transparency, accountability, and impact. Working alongside the Executive Director, finance team, and fellow board members, I’ll help safeguard the Foundation’s resources so every dollar advances our shared mission of compassion and dignity—for animals and people alike.

  • Kimberly Clements

    Managing Partner, PINTS LLC

I joined the Scarritt Foundation because I wanted to make a local impact on the welfare of animals.  I have always had animals in my home and they bring me so much love and joy.  I want the impact that we make to be lasting and sustainable, and I want people to feel good and trust how their money is being spent.

  • Cheryl Turkstra

    Philanthropist

During my lifetime I have had many animal friends from horses, cats, dogs, and even a parakeet friend that I loved dearly!   I am delighted to serve on the board of the Scarritt Foundation because I believe all living beings deserve to be treated with compassion, respect, and dignity.  Through our Foundation we aim to help create a world where animals are given the care and love they deserve.  Advocacy is a way to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

  • Timothy Medcoff

Managing Partner, Co-Founder Farhang & Medcoff

Animals have been a part of my life since I can remember. My love of animals only increased when I met my wife, who is passionate about animal rights. We lovingly have the “Medcoff Farm” with four dogs, three horses, three chickens, and three turtles. Animals enrich our lives and bring us tremendous joy. That’s why joining the Scarritt Foundation was a no-brainer for me.
